Sweeney’s Stuttering Update – June

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you’re having an outstanding start to the week 🙂

As the end of June is coming just around the corner, I reckon it’s the ideal time for this month’s Sweeney’s Stuttering Update! I like to do these updates as a monthly log of my journey to speech fluency, bringing you along on the ride with me! So, let’s see how my stutter has been doing throughout June!

Hello & Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

I’ve been incredibly proud of my stuttering journey over the last couple of months, as I have really started to see a drastic improvement in my overall speech fluency. I know that I’ve mentioned it in a couple of my previous ‘Stuttering Updates’, but I have continually been experiencing a major increase in the duration that I can maintain my speech fluency.

With that being said though, it’s careful that I maintain this momentum, ensuring that I am consistently thinking of ways to continue improving my speech further. This isn’t to say that I can’t celebrate the massive wins that I have along the way, because of course I can, but it more so acts as a reminder that I have not yet completed my journey to full speech fluency and that I still have the exact same motivation to keep on progressing towards my goal.

Exploring this line of thought further, the next question that arises for me is “What can I do to help continue this success?” and my answer to that question so far is honestly, I am not 100% sure…

This temporary roadblock isn’t a bad thing, it just means that I may need to take a little longer to think of new, creative and actionable steps that I can put into motion. The easy answer to the above question would be to continue doing what I am doing now, and with more time and practice, my speech will grow more fluent naturally.

That is a very sensible idea and is one that could most certainly work out, but I think that it could still be very handy to have another idea in my back pocket, just in case I need to deploy it a little later down the line. What’s more, even if I don’t end up using the new stuttering solution for myself, it would be super beneficial to have it on hand, when helping others with their speech fluency and confidence.

I’ve mentioned it a couple of times on the page before, but each stutterer handles their stutter in their own way, so what works for me may not work for somebody else, so having additional options to try can never hurt.

So yeah, over the next couple of weeks, the homework that I have set myself is to see if I can think of some new ways to improve my speech. As always, I’ll keep updating all of you amazing people with my progress and about any new ideas that I may come up with. If you have any ideas or potential solutions that you want to throw into the ring, be sure to drop me a message and I’ll see if we can make them work 🙂

I’ve been documenting my monthly stuttering journey with you all for quite a while now, and if I am honest, I am so glad that I decided to start doing it when I did. I’ve been in the fortunate position to have watched my speech undergo such tremendous progress and to have that journey noted down here on the page, well that is just a lovely feeling. I’ll continue recording my progress as much as I can, bringing all of you along with me on the pathway to speech fluency.

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? Do you enjoy seeing these monthly stuttering updates? Are there any other topics that you would like to see me take a look at on the page?

Be sure to let me know your thoughts and answers to the above questions, either in the comments below or through our Facebook page!

Thanks for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!
