Ideas for Lockdown – Blog 7: Write an Article?

Writing an Article is something that a lot of people feel like they would not be any good at when, in reality, it is the complete opposite! I love writing blogs and articles and strongly believe that everyone has their own story, they just need the medium to help tell it! This is what today’s blog in the “Ideas for Lockdown” series is going to be about!

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Today’s blog is the seventh blog in the “Ideas for Lockdown” series and is all about writing articles! Writing and developing stories is something that we all do at some point in our lives. Some people may prefer to verbally tell their stories whereas others may take a different approach such as writing their stories down in the form of blogs or poems. The point here is not the medium that you use to express yourself, it is the action that you actually doing of expressing something important to you.

Articles are something that I believe are strongly misjudged in modern day culture. When someone says article, the first thing that many people think of is a newspaper which they may or may not find boring and old fashioned. I think about it in a completely different light. When i think of articles I think of them as somebody telling a story with a moral lesson or thesis involved.

I spoke to one of my University friends recently about articles and the first thing that they said to me is that they would not know what to even write an article on. The best thing about articles is that you can write them on absolutely anything you like! You can write them on Sport, Fantasy, News, Books, Food, absolutely anything!

The Liberation and Consternation of Writing a Whole Book with ...

One thing that people often associate articles with is being very biased and one sided, however, this is not the case in quite a lot of scenarios. The way that an article is written does of course differ depending on the author and the point that they are trying to make but the majority of articles, at ;east the ones that I read, are very balanced and portray two sides to the story.

I find that sites like LinkedIn are outstanding for finding and learning about articles on a range of different topics. To prove that I can practice what I preach, as some would say, I decided to write my very first LinkedIn article last week to see what it was like. I will be doing a blog on my article at some point in the near future but the basis of the article was comparing Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation and which one is seemingly the better one.

I will be doing a blog on the article soon but here is the link if you want to give it a read: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/intrinsic-vs-extrinsic-motivation-age-old-debate-james-sweeney/

If you do want to try and write an article, I strongly encourage you to do so! If you want a platform to post it on, get in touch with me and we can sort something out! Other than that I think that is everything that I want to talk about in today’s blog! Thank you all for reading! What do you think? Have you ever written an article before? Are you going to try one now? Let me know what you think and any other thoughts that you have either in the comments or via our Facebook page!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!
