Sweeney’s Blogs Update – July 2023

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you’re all keeping well 🙂

Summer 2023 is upon us, and I don’t know about you, but it couldn’t have come at a better time! Although the weather hasn’t been the best over the last couple of weeks, hopefully, it’ll brighten up soon and we can have a well-deserved warm and sunny couple of months.

In the spirit of warming things up, we’re going to be taking a look at my plans for the page over the next couple of weeks in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Every summer, I always like to try and take a couple of hours here and there to reflect on how the page has been doing so far in the year – looking over what things have done well, the areas that I can improve in, the topics that I haven’t talked about and more. It’s my way of doing a bit of a summer refresh, a nice little job that I like to do to ensure that the page is always as fresh as possible.

With that being said, I thought that it all made for the perfect time to do a little update-style post for you all, letting you know some of my thoughts and ideas for the future of Sweeney’s Blogs – so, let’s get cracking.

Page Refresh

Here on Sweeney’s Blogs, we have several different pages, which you can find on the dropdown menu at the top. These pages vary from my Poetry Corner to an introductory blog page, our Blogapedia and so much more.

I was having a chat with my friend Charlie Rogers the other day, and he raised how my “About Me” page could do with a bit of an update, and do you know what, he was absolutely right. I designed Sweeney’s Blogs to be a very personal blog page, aimed at helping and supporting as many people as I possibly could, and with that in mind, my about me page should reflect the values that I believe in.

I could fully see where Charlie was coming from, so I took a little bit of time to think over what sort of direction I’d like to take Sweeney’s Blogs in, and I updated the page accordingly. I realised that a couple of the other subpages here could do with a bit of a refresh, so that’s what I’m going to be doing for you all over the coming weeks.

I’m not sure whether I’ll share which ones I have updated or not, I suppose that’s something that can be decided on another day. I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop about whatever happens, just like I always try to do 🙂

Content Planning

Over the last 4 and a half years, I’ve had the pleasure to cover so many different topics here on the page, from stuttering to charity work, mental health to graduating university, the page has been on such an incredible journey, and I could not be prouder of the progress that we have all made.

I always like to do what I can to cover a wide range of topics, so over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be having a think over what sort of ideas I can share going forward. I’ve loved delving more into philosophy and well-being concepts from around the world lately, which I am definitely going to keep on exploring, and I’ll let you know if I have any ideas for different series/themes of blogs that I am going to be tapping into.

As always though, if you do have an idea or a topic that you would like to see me explore on the page, please do let me know. No idea is a bad one, I’d more than happily chat through any that you have, to see what we can do to turn that into a blog, or even a fully-fledged blog series, depending on the idea 🙂
