Managing Stress Series?

We all encounter stress at one point or another in our lives. In the majority of cases, it is completely natural, and is something that we can managing without much impact on our day to day lives. However, there are times when that stress may seem like too much, or when you face several different stressful situations at once, when it can start to feel overwhelming.

This is what we’ll start to take a look at in today’s blog!

How are we all doing?

How are you doing? It’s a simple question that takes only seconds to ask, and can make the world of difference. We have been in an on/off lockdown now for around 10 whole months, and it can be very easy to feel a bit lost, or unsure about how you’re feeling. Today’s blog is going to look at checking in with people, and why it is so crucial that we do so, especially in these uncertain times.

Sweeney’s Stuttering Series?

I have written quite a lot of blog series here on Sweeney’s Blogs, and as I haven’t done one for a couple of weeks now, I was thinking, should they make a return? I have been considering bringing blog series back to the page for some time, so what I thought I would do over the next couple of blogs is to talk through some of my ideas for potential series, and see if anybody is interested in them!

Today’s blog is going to be about my potentially new Stuttering Series.

My Stuttering Journey through 2020

2020 was a massive year for me, and yet, despite all of the highs and lows experienced in those 12 months, one of my key takeaways from the year would be the lessons that I learned throughout my 2020 Stuttering Journey. My Stutter has played a very large role in all of my life, I wouldn’t ever say that wasn’t the case, but 2020 seemed to be a year in which everything that happened, seemed to link back to that topic, my Speech and my Self-Confidence.

This is what we’ll be looking at in today’s blog!

2020, What a Year for Sweeney’s Blogs!

2020 has finally come to a close, words that some people thought they would never hear. The year has been beyond anyone’s predictions, with numerous highs and lows dotted throughout the past 12 months. Over the course of 2020, Sweeney’s Blogs grew at a rate faster than I could ever have imagined, more than doubling our views from 2019. That’s what we are going to be looking at in this blog, how Sweeney’s Blogs did this year!

Happy New Year!

2020 has felt like, for many, a never-ending maze of confusion and disruption, however, all of that will soon be over. As New Years Eve is just a couple of days away, and with that the start of 2021, a large majority of people will use these next few days to evaluate over the last 12 months. Whether you would like to reflect over the past, look to the future, or do a combination of the both, it’s safe to say 2020 was far beyond what anyone could have predicted.

We’ve Passed 15,000 Views!!!

On Wednesday 11th November 2020, Sweeney’s Blogs passed over 15,000 total views!! This was a massive milestone for the page to hit and was actually the year-end goal that I set for the page at the end of 2019. The page has been growing faster than I could have ever anticipated, which is down to all of you, the readers, and I could not be happier with the direction that we are currently going in!

Let’s take a couple of minutes to celebrate passing such a momentous milestone!

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

As of last Wednesday, Sweeney’s Blogs now has over 15,000 total views! When I initially set the year-end goal of 15,000 views for the page at the end of 2019, I never once thought that I would pass it with a month and a half left in the year. The page has gone from getting a total of 5,000 views from February 2019, when the page was created, to the end of that year, and in this year it has gotten an additional 10,000 views in the first 11 months, it’s insane!

I wanted to take a minute to say a massive thank you to everybody who has helped get the page where it is today. If it was not for all of you, the page’s readers, the page would not be here today. You make it possible for me to share all of my stories, experiences and views on a huge range of topics on this incredible platform! I’m really proud that I have been able to build a community around this page, one that will continue to grow and flourish into the future!

I think it’ll be good to give a few small updates on what has been happening over the last few weeks, and some things that will be coming up soon:

  • I have moved back to Swansea for the time being, due to the Lockdown that has come into play in England for the next month.
  • I’m currently studying a few courses on platforms such as LinkedIn Learning, OpenLearn which is run by the Open University and more.
  • I am hoping to get back into writing my book soon if all goes to plan and I have some time on my hands.
  • I’ve got a couple of guest blogs lined up which will be really good when they are finished and ready to go up on the page. If you would like to write a guest post for the page, or know anyone who does, please do get in contact and let me know too!

That’s all I want to talk about in today’s blog, thank you all for reading! One final big thank you for helping get the page to where it is today! What do you think of today’s blog? How is everybody doing with lockdown and everything else that is going on in the world? What do you do to help pass the time? Let me know your thoughts and answers to the questions above, as well as any other thoughts you have on the page in the comments below!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you have a great day!

Sweeney’s Blogs: October 2020 Update

I love writing update posts from time to time here on Sweeney’s Blogs. They not only help all of you amazing readers see how the page is going, but they also allow me the chance to reflect over the last few weeks, what went well and things that can be improved, stuff like that. I try and make sure that I do an update post every now and again on the page, but there has been loads going on recently, so there has not been an update since August time.

So here is Sweeney’s Blogs October 2020 Update!

Sweeney’s Peutz-Jeghers Story – My Dance with Death

6 years ago yesterday I got rushed into hospital and was diagnosed with Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome. I was only 15 years of age when it happened and I am eternally grateful for all of the work that the surgeons, doctors, nurses and more did to save my life when I was but 3 hours away from what would have been my unfortunate death.

I am James Sweeney and this is my Peutz-Jeghers Story, My Dance with Death:

The “What do we mean by Success?” series has been the longest running series that I have had on Sweeney’s Blogs, starting on March 16th 2020, and is going to be coming to a close for the time being. Sweeney’s Blogs New Artwork!

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Today’s blog is going to be about a new piece of art that has been made for the page!

I’ve been waiting to announce the new graphic for the page for a little while now and am delighted to finally share it with all of you today! Pearl Onyeneke came up with the idea for the piece of art and drew an absolutely amazing drawing for it. A good mate of mine, called Archie Carpenter, then helped digitise the piece!

Sweeney’s Stuttering Story – The Call

Today’s blog is going to be a little bit different to the usual kind of blog that I write. The blog is going to be focused around a story which happened to me around 4-5 weeks ago, which played a really large role in the increase of the amount that I stutter over the last couple of weeks.

I mentioned in last weeks blog that I was going to talk about it this and, even though it is quite a personal story, I still feel like the messages that we can take from it are very important. It may seem like a very sad story when you read through the first few paragraphs, but there’s always a lesson and a moment of reflection that we can take from moments like this.

So without further ado, this is Sweeney’s Stuttering Story – The Call.
