Happy 7th Birthday Sweeney’s Blogs ðŸ¥³

Good morning 👋

What’s a piece of good news you’ve heard or celebrated lately?

I’ll start with a more personal achievement: Sweeney’s Blogs is nearly reaching its seventh birthday, which just so happens to be tomorrow, Tuesday the 3rd of February 2026. We’re, of course, going to be taking a look at this in a bit more depth today.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Where do I start? On the 3rd of February 2019, I pressed publish on my first-ever blog post, not having a real clue what I was getting myself into. I thought my blogs would get around 100 or so views in total throughout their lifespans; I never imagined it’d reach the stage it has.

We recently passed over 75,000 total views here on the page. 75,000 views – wow. Having my writing be seen by people from over 130 countries throughout these last couple of years is crazy. Words don’t do justice to how proud I feel of seeing this little blog reach so many people.

One of my focuses with the page has never been about the volume of readers, it’s reaching and connecting with people who can genuinely learn from, relate to and grow alongside the page, and me as a writer. I didn’t want to create a singular blog page, I wanted to help shape a space where people could come to talk about the things that really mattered to the them as individuals, and as a collective.

I’ve worked in the communications industry for seven years now – working at a University, representing successful technology companies from a PR angle, working as a fractional marketer for founders and service-based businesses and more. I know how powerful the stories we tell are and how much of a difference they can make to people’s lives.

We are all capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. While it can be easy to read something like this and think – “Yeah, but so what?”, I ask you to have a little pause, only for a moment.

Let’s bring back what I mentioned earlier, about how Sweeney’s Blogs now has over 75,000 views from over 130 countries spread across the globe. I am one man, born and raised in the Swansea valleys. If I can reach this level with the page, with the help of some fantastic guest writers and brilliant supporters along the way, then imagine what you could build if you trusted your voice a little more and decided today was as good a day as any to start.

To each and every one of you who have supported the page along its journey so far, you get a heartfelt thank you from the bottom of my heart. To my team of writers, who have all helped grow the page in their own way – Isha, Matthew, Giles and Tom – thanks for joining me on this journey, it means more than you know.

Here’s to the next seven years 🥳

Thanks a lot for reading, love of love, and I’ll catch you in the next blog!

James
