Let’s talk about Graduation…

Good morning everyone,

I hope you’re having a lovely start to the week 🙂

Last year, I graduated with a BSc in Management with Information Technology from the University of Reading, on a day that I will never be able to forget. In today’s blog, we’re going to be taking a look at my thoughts surrounding my graduation and more.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Looking back on my graduation, it was honestly one of the best days of my life, and I’ve never felt so proud for achieving such an incredible achievement. Moving away to study at Reading was one of the toughest decisions that I’ve made, but it was 100% worth it.

I won’t lie to you, over my four years at Reading, there were times when I massively struggled, where I would sit down and question myself over and over – thinking “am I good enough to be here?”, “what happens if I don’t fit in?”, “how will I cope living away from home” and so many other thoughts that would cloud my head and cause my anxiety to skyrocket.

Thankfully, I managed to persevere, believing in my skills and the experiences that have helped to mould me into the person that I am to this day, helping me to make it all the way through to my graduation. Do I still doubt myself from time to time? Of course, I do, but it’s in those times that I need to reflect on my journey and inspire myself with the paths that I have already ventured down, and the futures that lie ahead of me.

I fully understand that university isn’t for everybody, however, it was by far the best route for me to explore personally. University taught me such a lot about the world, whether it was in an academic sense regarding my course, a social sense through the opportunities to meet and connect with people from all over the world, a personal growth perspective and so much more.

I have such amazing memories from my time at Reading, which I’m sure will stay with me as I continue to progress in my career and my life more generally. One year later, I’m currently working as a Junior Account Executive at Jargon PR and I am really looking forward to seeing where my career takes off from here.

No matter what the future has in store, I’m so proud of what I was able to achieve through my time as a student 🎓

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? How’s your week ahead looking? What’s one of your proudest achievements over the last couple of years?

Be sure to let me know your thoughts and answers to the above questions 🙂

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely week ahead!
