Paris 2024 – What an Olympics!!

Good morning everyone,

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games came to a close last week, after an incredible two weeks of performances, records and celebrations. We’ll be looking at some of my personal highlights from the Games in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

As I mentioned in my pre-Paris post, I absolutely love watching the Olympics. Every time it comes around, I get instantly absorbed, watching as many events and athletes as possible. From swimming to track and field, gymnastics to cycling, the Olympics has this magic that never fails to catch my attention.

Here are some of my highlights from Paris 2024:

🙌 Armand Duplantis taking pole vaulting to a whole new height, creating a new Olympic record of 6.25 metres. I do not understand how it is even possible at this point, Mondo seems to just keep on getting better and better.

🏊 Duncan Scott, James Guy, Matthew Richardson and Tom Dean held their title as champions in the men’s 4×200 freestyle medley, in what was such a crazy race to watch. Will they be able to go for the threepeat in 2028? Only time will tell… 👀

🏊‍♂️ Léon Marchand absolutely dominated the pool, earning four golds and one bronze, setting four brand new Olympic record times – his career is going to be insane to follow along with, we’ve got another incredible talent like Michael Phelps on our hands here, it’s going to be crazy t watch where he goes next.

🤸 Simone Biles returned to the gymnastics floor, earning a total of three golds and one silver, with her resilience, determination and talent being super inspiring to people across the globe. Her Netflix special is a brilliant watch, in case you haven’t been able to watch it yet.

Team GB achieved a total of 65 medals across Paris, with the Welsh contingent earning a record of 13 Olympic medals. Who doesn’t enjoy seeing their home nation do well in the Games, it’s so nice to see 🥇🥈🥉

The Olympic Games never fails to create brilliant memories, make new role models and lead to fantastic creative marketing campaigns, what’s not to love?!

I’d love to see an Olympics in person one day, however, for the time being, roll on LA for 2028 💪
