Good afternoon everyone,
I hope that you’re all keeping well 🙂
August 2022 comes to a close during the middle of next week, so you know what that means – it’s time for this month’s Sweeney’s Stuttering Update! I like to do these updates as a monthly log of my journey to speech fluency, bringing you along on the ride with me! So, let’s see what this month has in store!
I’ve been thinking over the last week or so about what I am going to cover in today’s Sweeney’s Stuttering Update, and I think that I am going to do it a little different for a change…

I usually write these posts as a reflection of my thoughts over the last month, or a couple of weeks, but this time around, I am going to talk about what I am going to be looking at/ thinking over for the next month or two – always good to try something different you see!
Over the course of September & possibly October too, I am going to try & figure out why I tend to stutter on certain words so much. I’ve had a stutter for as long as I can remember, and for some reason, I find that I stutter on the same word quite a lot, but for the life of me, I have never been able to figure out why – so I’m going to try and figure it all out in the near future.

You may be thinking, “Sweeney, what sort of words do you stutter on a lot?” Well then, let’s take a look at some of the words/names, bearing in mind that I have no idea why I do it:
- Anne-Marie
- Ambassador
- Events
- Georgia
Those are 4 that I can think of off the top of my head, and you can see that they are completely random words/names, so I have no clue why I stutter a lot saying them – god help me if I had to ask somebody called Anne-Marie to help manage the event ambassadors for Georgia, that would be mayhem!

So, I’m going to spend some time over the next couple of weeks thinking over why I stutter so much on random words, and if there is a way that I can resolve this issue for myself – it could be something as even as saying random words or phrases in a sentence every now & again, to practise the sounds of the different words – only time will tell I guess?!
Anyhow, that’s all for today’s Sweeney’s Stuttering Update, what do you think? Are there any stuttering-related blogs that you would like to see me write about on the page? Are there any other topics or areas that you would like to see me write about?
As always, be sure to let me know your thoughts & answers to the above questions, either in the comments below or through our Facebook page. and I’ll see you in the next one!
Thanks for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!
