Why Do I Mentor? 🧐

Good afternoon everyone,

Hope you’re keeping well 🙂

I’ve been mentoring for years, through university, volunteering, and most recently, with the team at One Million Mentors. We’re going to be taking a look at some of the reasons why i love doing it in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

For me, mentoring isn’t just about guiding someone; it’s about mutual growth, understanding and making a genuine difference. We’re all different people, each with our own backgrounds, beliefs, and aspirations for what we want to set out and achieve in our lives.

Learning how to channel your experiences and the lessons that you have learnt along the way so far into a format that can resonate and support another on their pathway is such a fulfilling to do – you never stop learning, and with each lesson comes the opportunity to pass the learnings onto another, paying forward the karma.

I am incredibly pleased (and was surprised!) to have been featured in 1MM’s latest Impact Report. You can find the page on my story below:

Seeing my story highlighted in such an important document is a very proud moment, and reminds me of the impact we can have through just one hour a month. Mentoring is a two-way street. It’s taught me how illuminating a fresh perspective can be – for mentor and mentee alike 😊

To anybody considering mentoring, I couldn’t recommend it more, it’s one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. If you want to chat it through further, be sure to let me know – I’m very likely going to do more blogs on it over the next couple of weeks anyways, so I’ll share more of my thoughts there for you all.

As 1MM says: one hour a month, one young person, one mentor, one (I’d switch this to two lives) life changed ❤️

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? Who knows the impact a conversation can have? How’s your week been?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
