A Sweeney Camping… 🏕️

Last weekend, 18 of us from the undefinable community returned to Wild Combe Camping in the South Downs for our summer retreat. This was my 7th retreat with this crazy group, and it certainly didn’t disappoint 🙂

We’ll take a look at some of what we got up to in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Crazily organised by two of our members, Zac and Sindre, this trip was themed around our shared value of “Seriously Silly”, which is focused on discussing the topics that genuinely matter to us as people, but not being afraid to laugh along the way.

Here’s some of what we got up to:

💃 Danced, sang, laughed and had well overdue catch-ups

🤸 Had our revamped Sports Day, where I tried, and failed, to win the handstand event for our team (what a surprise, aye 😂)

🎭 Practised improv comedy – pretending to be oracles and reading each other’s future was certainly an experience I never planned on having, but it ended up being so much fun

🏊 Swam in the local reservoir, where I also attempted paddle boarding again. I lasted two seconds standing up this time around. Progress is progress, though, I guess?

🚶‍♂️‍➡️ Went for a lovely walk, seeing some of the beautiful local sights, catching the Red Arrows during one of their shows and having awesome chats about all sorts of random and great things

Overall, it was a beautiful, wholesome and super silly weekend, exactly what we all needed. I’ll forever be grateful for all of the incredible people I’ve met through this community and the amazing memories we continue to make.

Here’s to our next retreat this October, which should be another brilliant one 👐
