Reflecting on Porto – One Year Later

Good afternoon,

Hope you’re having a fab start to the weekend ☀️

It’s crazy to think that this time last year, I was only recently getting back from my first ever solo-holiday to Porto in Portugal. We’re going to be diving back into some of what I got up to on the trip and my thoughts on it 12 months later in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

I remember when my parents dropped me off at the Quadrant in Swansea, as I was catching the bus to Bristol Airport for my flight, I was sitting there and was so nervous. I had this mix of being super excited yet terrified that the trip wasn’t going to plan.

However, as soon as I checked my case in, all the nerves seemed to vanish. I had this calm feeling wash over me, and autopilot just took over. I ended up having an absolutely amazing time in Portugal. I honestly loved it out there.

What did help was that I’d had some experience of solo days out in London. Granted, this was a much bigger scale, and as the predecessor to my USA tour earlier this year, it was a test to see how I found it – and it’s pretty obvious that the test went really well, I think so anyways 😂

Heading off on this trip helped me prove to myself that I was way more capable than I’d ever given myself credit for. I learnt such a lot about myself, enjoyed having some quiet time scheduled in and mixing with people from all walks of life. What I surprisingly enjoyed was how much control I had – I got to decide exactly what I was going to do, when I was going to do and everything else – it was so liberating.

Be sure to check out the full breakdown below to see what I got up to in Porto, it was a cracking holiday. If you have any questions about the holiday be sure to let me know: 🙂

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
