Good morning,
Hope you’re week has gotten off to the best start 🙂
Music has always been so important to me. There’s one memory with my Nana that I’ll always hold close to my heart, and as we spoke about World Alzheimer’s Month last week, I thought now was the perfect time to retell it to you all.
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
Nana and I went on one of our usual long walks, chatting away like we used to. We could be gone for hours, setting the world to rights as we walked around the countryside. After about 45 minutes, we decided to take a little break and put some music on.

When “Tell Me That You Love Me” by James Smith came on, without thinking, we started singing and dancing along in the middle of a field. The song had only been released a couple of weeks prior, but it’s a song I always loved listening to 💃
(Honestly, the neighbouring cows must have thought we’d lost it!)
For those few minutes, it was like Alzheimer’s didn’t exist. It was just me and my Nana again, smiling, laughing, living in the moment. That’s the thing about music. Even when memories fade, a song can transport you right back to the happiest of times

To this day, whenever I hear that song, I can still picture us dancing away. It never fails to bring a smile to my face. It doesn’t matter what mood I’m in before listening to the song; it has this magical ability to make me feel calm and at peace.
September is World Alzheimer’s Month, and it’s memories like this that remind me how powerful small moments can be, even in the most difficult times 🙂
That’s all for today’s blog. What do you think? Would you like to see more blogs like this on the page?
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!
James
