Good afternoon everyone,
I hope that you’re all having a lovely day 🙂
October 2022 comes to an end very soon, so you know what that means – it’s time for this month’s Sweeney’s Stuttering Update! I like to do these updates as a monthly log of my journey to speech fluency, bringing you along on the ride with me! So, let’s see what this month has in store!
Hello & Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
Another month is over already, can you believe it?! But as October 2022 comes to a close, it’s time to get reflecting on how my speech has been doing over the last couple of weeks…

In all honesty, my speech has been a lot better this month – if I had to describe this month’s stuttering journey in one word, it would have to be stable. Although it has been a little bit shaky from time to time, overall it has been a lot better this month, which is always good to see 🙂
I suppose the question now comes into play about why has my speech been better in October than it was in September?

I suppose it all comes down to how I am slowly processing finishing uni, among a load of other things in my life. When I have a lot of things on my mind, or I’m very stressed, I tend to stutter a lot more, as I’m sure you can imagine. So, when I get to take some time out to process and understand things, then that helps me gain more control over my speech.
Plus, I recently managed to land myself my first post-university job (more information on this in the future), so that has probably helped me to reduce some of the uncertainty that I’ve been facing over the last couple of months.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t really had time yet to think over why I stutter on certain words more than others, as things have been so crazy lately, but when things calm down a bit, I’m really looking forward to getting back into it. It may be linked to a new theory that I’m building (called Memory Stuttering), but I’ll come back to that another time 🙂
What has been nice to see over the last few weeks is how quickly my speech can bounce back, from what was in all honesty, not the best September speech-wise. What this shows to me is that my Stuttering Solutions are working pretty well & that I’m making much more progress along my ‘Journey to Speech Fluency’ than I first thought.

Well then, I suppose that’s where we’ll leave this month’s Sweeney’s Stuttering Update, what do you think? Do you enjoy seeing these monthly update-style posts? Are there any topics that you would like to see me cover on the page?
Be sure to let me know your thoughts & views, either in the comments below or through our Facebook page!
Thanks for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!
