6 Months In – My 2024 New Year’s Resolutions

I hope you’re keeping well 🙂

We’re nearly halfway through 2024, can you believe it?! Time feels like it is going so fast lately, I think that it’s good to take a moment to stop and reflect on my goals for the year. Let’s see how I’ve been getting on following my three-month check-in.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

In January, I set myself a range of New Year’s Resolutions that I was determined to complete throughout the year. These goals covered several areas, including my speech, meeting up with friends more in person, my plans to go on my first solo holiday and more.

I’m using these quarterly updates as an accountability check, monitoring my progress as we move through 2024.

How am I getting on? Here are some updates: ⤵️

✍️ Carry on writing my first book – I’ve added another 5,000 to 10,000 over the last three months. I decided to start taking this a bit slower, as I wanted to ensure I was enjoying the process, not rushing it simply to finish the book. Although the book will take longer to be ready, I think that it’ll read better overall, so it’s a change that I am happy to make

🗣️ Continue improving my speech fluency – my speech has been nearly fully fluent recently, which is fantastic to experience. I’ve had loads of people tell me that my stutter is barely recognisable anymore, a testament to all of the time and hard work that I have put into working on it

🛫 Have my first solo holiday – I’m heading to Porto from the 3rd-8th of August, which I am a mixture of super excited and super nervous about. I am sure it’ll go very smoothly, this trip is something that I need to do, it’ll teach me a lot about myself and will be such a lovely break

👋 Meet more LinkedIn connections in person – I’ve met so many incredible and inspiring people this year, whether on one of my London trips, my weekends away at Hereford + Suffolk or somewhere different entirely!

📚 Read at least 50 different books – I finished my 30th book for the year last Tuesday, so I’m well on track on this front!

Well, there we have it, there are my goals for the year – I think it’s very safe to say that I am still making awesome progress through them all so far! These next couple of weeks/months are looking to be crazy busy (I may share a post about that soon), so I wonder where we’ll be when I next share an update with you all 🙂
