A Sweeney in Washington DC?!

Good morning,

Hope you’re keeping well 🙂

Three weeks ago, my friend Aidan drove me to Washington DC for the final three days of my mini US tour. Let’s take a look at what I got up to there in today’s blog 🇺🇸

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Although the heavens opened on our first day, Aidan came in clutch with a spare coat. You’d think someone from the Swansea valleys would bring a cat on holidays with them aye, but I did go away to escape the rain, I didn’t expect it to follow me! I ended up looking pretty much like this:

Despite the weather, we actually managed to get through loads. Here are some of my highlights from my time in DC:

🕊️ Beautiful Memorials – Seeing the Arlington National Cemetery, as well as the Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, WWII, Vietnam, and Korean War Memorials was incredibly moving

😎 Famous Landmarks – Getting to see the Capitol Building, Library of Congress, Reflecting Pool, Washington Monument and White House was incredible

🛫 Museums and History – Visiting the National Air and Space and National Spy Museums, as well as the National Art and National Portrait Galleries, were amazing

I’m not going to lie, I was very sad on my way back to the airport, but that’s just a sign of how good of a trip it all was. America, you were a sheer pleasure – here’s to loads more trips, meet-ups and good times to come 🍻

I spent years of my life saying how much I’d love to go travelling to all of these different places, but I had no wait for somebody to come along with me. Flash forward to now, and I’ve realised you can go solo and have just as much fun. When you do go travelling solo, you get to meet people from all over the world and have so many random yet wonderful conversations – I’d highly recommend it.

That’s all for today’s blog. What do you think? What’s one of the best places you’ve visited so far in your life? What made it so special?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
