A Sweeney in Sousse…

Good morning,

How’s your week ahead looking?

Last Monday, my parents and I got back from a lovely week in Tunisia, staying a short five-minute walk away from Port El Kantaoui. We’ll take a look at some of what we got up to on the trip in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

We usually have super busy holidays, seeing all of the sights, exploring the local area and making the most of our time in each place we visit.

However, with Tunisia, we decided to go for a bit of a slower pace, using the time to take our feet off the pedal for a week and enjoy some chilled-out downtime. With that being said, though, we still did manage to get quite a lot done.

Here are some of my holiday highlights ⤵️

🪂 Flying high – Parasailing over 300 feet above sea level, getting a sky-high view of Sousse and the coastline

🔥 Hot, hot hot – With temperatures in the mid-high 30s all week, I ended up looking like a human squashie for a while, but I didn’t burn much, thankfully

🎤 Karaoke – Our final night was karaoke night, and a woman we met at the hotel, who was called Karen, wanted to sing but was super nervous, so I joined her on stage for two songs

😌 Relaxed vibes – Catching up on some downtime, reading some brilliant books (I managed to read Weyward by Emilia Hart, A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes, The Trial by Rob Rinder and more_ and joining some aqua aerobics sessions (I know it sounds like I’m 80, but don’t knock it until you try it 😂)

🏛️ Sightseeing – Visiting a Greek mosaic museum (featuring the fates, mosaics of Dionysus, sculptures of Pan and a statue of Julius Caesar in the Peacock Garden lobby) and El Jem, the second largest colosseum in the world, where the film Gladiator was filmed, which was incredible

Tunisia, you were a pleasure! I’ve been super lucky with trips this year, getting to see so many stunning places so far. Just like the strawberry daiquiris on tap last week, here’s to many more of these adventures to come 🏖️

That’s all for today’s blog. What do you think? Do you have any exciting travel plans coming soon? What’s one place you’ve loved visiting in your life?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
