We have discussed the ideology of the term ‘Success’ having different definitions to each person since I started the “What do we mean by Success?” series, which we are putting that theory to the test. This week’s blog, written by Tom Jauncey, the Director of Nautilus Marketing, investigates ‘Success’ from a business approach and gives us an insight into what Success means to Tom!
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
Today’s blog is the ninth blog in the “What do we mean by Success?” series and has been written by the one and only Tom Jauncey. The blog investigates what Success means to Tom and his business, Nautilus Marketing. It is an excellent and insightful blog to read, which looks at success in a different approach to what I have covered so far in the series, so without further ado, here’s, what does success mean to me!
Success means a lot of different things for a lot of people, such as having millions in the bank, driving flashy cars or simply having happiness. For me, success means ‘success’. Stick with me! The word in a dictionary is defined as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose” but what exactly is that aim?
In regard to business, it would be a good turnover, profit margins and a team who are happy and motivated. I want to go more into that.
Of course, as a business owner money does make me happy, but it is not just that. When I started up my company, Nautilus Marketing, the aim was to help businesses grow online and offer the best service we can to our customers. Customer service, to me, is the key to success, if that is not correct, then you are doing something wrong. Each of our clients isn’t just an invoice number, to me, they are people. Often businesses are powered by costs and profit margins, to me, they are people who I want us to make an impression on and achieve good results so they will keep coming back and recommending us to their colleagues or friends.
We recently sent flowers and a box of chocolates to one of our clients whose project overran. Why? Because I value each and every one of our customers. If a client pays us for a service, whatever that might be, I want them to see the value and show them just how good we are. If our clients are happy, so are we = my definition of success… 😉
After each project, we always ask for a review, if you can gather as many reviews for your business it builds so much credibility for your future clients. Whenever I buy something online, I always check reviews to see what other people’s experiences are. Have a Google of us, you will be able to see what our clients think of us. Another example of what success means to me, positive reviews of our service. I scaled up our team quiet recently and took on another project manager as due to COVID-19, we have been busier than ever. If we are continuously growing and clients are happy, to me that shows success.
As you can see there are many things that I define as ‘success’ and it has a different definition of it. What is your definition? Let me know in the comments.
