National Storytelling Week 2021

From the 30th January – 6th February 2021, we celebrate National Storytelling Week! As we go through life, we are surrounded by stories, they are in books, songs, films and the life that we live is indeed a story too. This week is a perfect time to celebrate and appreciate all of the stories you have experienced in your life so far! This is what we’ll be exploring in today’s blog!

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Happy National Storytelling Week everyone!

Whether you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings, or the Lord of the Flies, National Storytelling Week is the ideal time to celebrate and share all of the different stories that we experience in life. Stories, and indeed the art of storytelling, are truly incredible crafts. To be able to present a tale in a way that interests and engages the audience is a dream for many, and for some, a true and rewarding reality.

It is important to remember that stories do not just come to us in the form of books. We encounter stories in all aspects of our lives, be it when we are having a conversation with a friend or family member, when you watch a new series on Netflix, when you listen to the radio, even when you play a game. The story itself can be factual, fictitious, old or brand new, the choice of what you choose to celebrate this week, is all yours!

So whether you ae going to read the autobiography of Alan Sugar or a classic like Frankenstein, whether you are going to watch Poirot or The Simpsons, or listen to your favourite band, make sure you take some time to appreciate the storytelling that is happening right in front of your very eyes, it’s what this week is for at the end of the day!

Let’s all remember that each of our lives is a story in it’s own merit. We each have our own twists and turns, chapters and dialogues, experiences that are unique to you. Make sure you strive to own your story, to embrace it, to live it!
