Appreciating Your Journey

“James, you undervalue just how far you’ve come”

I went to see one of my old counsellors the other day, where he said this to me, and do you know what, he is 100% right. We’re going to be exploring what I mean by this in today’s blog, so without further ado, let’s get into it 🙂

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

The last couple of years have been an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least, with loads of highs and lows always keeping me on my toes. If it’s taught me anything it’s that we never know what’s coming next in life, but something that’s even more apparent is how we have all got to take the time to appreciate ourselves and our journeys far more than we currently do in life.

I’ve been doing a lot of self-reflection lately, and do you know what, I am really proud of myself for all of the crazy and amazing things that I have accomplished recently. Here are a couple of the things that have gone on:

🪂 I jumped out of a plane at 12,000 feet, raising over £900 for the Alzheimer’s Society

🎓 I studied and graduated from the University of Reading with a BSc in Management with Information Technology

🏆 I won Gen Z Talks’s “Gen Zer of the Year 2021” award

🎤 My speech fluency has come such a long way, to the point where I barely stutter anymore

👐 Sweeney’s Blogs has continued to go from strength to strength – accumulating over 50,000 views from 110+ countries

I’ll freely admit it, I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and while it’s great to always be striving to improve myself, I shouldn’t lose sight of how far I’ve come. I’ve still got such a long way to go in my life, but I’m incredibly proud of the adventure that I’ve been on so far.

Have I made mistakes along the way? Of course, I have, and I’m going to make a whole lot more, but it’s all a part of the journey. I’ll keep you all updated on all of my future news, as and when it happens!

Use this blog as an incentive to do a bit of reflection and to give yourself a pat on the back for your journey so far, I’m sure you deserve it far more than you could ever know! You never know the difference that a little bit of kindness and gratitude can make on your day ahead 🙂

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? When was the last time that you reflected on your journey? How do you enjoy celebrating your life?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
