Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you’re keeping well 🙂
Two Saturdays ago, all of my plans got cancelled; I was on my second London trip, and at first, I was a tad concerned about what I was going to do. Let’s see how I turned the day into such a lovely and learning filled experience in today’s blog.
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
When I woke up in the morning, I was in a stranegly positive and determind mood – even though my plans hadn’t come to frution, I was still feeling raring to go, to see what the day had in store. I decided to take advice from Maya – a good friend of mine – and treat myself to a solo date day; or what some people would refer to as a proper self-care Saturday.

Here’s what I got up to: ⤵️
🎭 Saturday Morning – I watched West End Live in Trafalgar Square for hours, seeing performances from Hamilton, Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Sister Act, Six and more. I’ve always been a massive fan of watching live shows, I feel like they teach us such important lessons about how we tell stories and capture the attention of your audience
📚 Saturday Afternoon – I went over to Foyles, one of my favourite book shops in London, for over an hour and a half, chatting to people from all walks of life. I strolled over to Waterstones in Charring Cross for a little bit too – got to add some extra books to the list where I can!
🍽️ Saturday Evening – I treated myself to a lovely Turkish meal at Megan’s in Balham, which is where the photo below is from!
🚶➡️ Saturday Evening – I went for a great long walk after food, around Clapham Common then to Tooting and back, which was a great way to burn all of that food off
Although I was a little nervous, I ended up having a really lovely day – I’m going to do more of them in the future, that’s for sure.

While I love spending time with others, my schedule for this trip was absolutely packed on the Friday, Sunday and Monday, so all in all, everything worked out for the best. Sending time on your own teaches you such a lot about yourself, and as my upcming trip to Porto in a a couple of weeks continues to get closer and closer, this was a cracking warm up for it 🙂
I’m going to be ctahcing up with the people that I missed on the Saturday during one of my future trips, the plans all got canceled for very legitimate reasons, so there is no hard feelings there. It was just one of those things were soemthing urgent came up, these things happen!

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? When was the last time you treated yourself to a self-date? Do you have any exciting plans coming soon? I’ve got a crazy few weeks coming up, I’ll be sure to do a little blog on it soon for you all.
I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
