I’m off on holiday!

I hope you’re having a lovely start to the weekend 🙂

When you see this, I’ll be heading on my first-ever solo holiday to Porto in Portugal. We’ll be taking a look at some of my thoughts regarding this trip in today’s blog. So without further ado, let’s get cracking.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Well, the time for my solo trip to Porto has finally arrived. While I am feeling a mixture of super excited and nervous, I cannot wait to see what this adventure has in store. I’ve been waiting months for this, so I think it’s safe to say this is a well-overdue break.

For me, this trip is not just about exploring the beautiful city of Porto, however, about stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the unknown. I’ve never gone to a different country by myself, so if this all goes well, it can be the first holiday of many left to come. From taking in the views to tasting the local cuisine and immersing myself in the culture, I’m sure it’s going to be a great trip.

There are quite a few places that I’m looking forward to visiting while on my trip. The historic Ribeira district, the Livraria Lello, one of the most famous bookshops in the entire world, the Dom Luís I Bridge, which offers stunning views of the Douro River and so much more; I’m well and truly spoilt for choice.

Two of my friends, Niall and Morgan, live out in Porto, so hopefully, as long as they can make it work with their schedules, we’ll be able to meet up in person for the first time. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed meeting with friends I’ve made from LinkedIn in person over the last couple of weeks and am looking forward to doing more moving forward.

I’m planning on documenting how the holiday goes, which I’ll be sure to share with you all when I’m settled back home. Whether you’re a seasoned solo traveller or considering your first trip alone, I hope my journey will inspire and provide some useful thoughts.
