Want to know the Golden Rule of Communications? 🥇

Good evening everyone,

I hope you’re having a brilliant start to the week 🙂

I’ve been working in communications for over five years now, across a number of different areas, and it’s something that I love learning more about. In today’s blog, we’re going to be breaking down my golden rule of comms.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeeney’s Blogs!

Communications is an essential part of our lives – to put it simply, it’s how we communicate (or share information) with each other. Whether it is through sounds or visuals, internally in a business or externally, it all counts!

One of my personal favourite things about working in comms is how fast paced the industry is. The way we share information is constantly evolving, being heavily influenced by culture, technology, and the situatuons that it is used in. This means that effective communication isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach; it’s about being flexible, understanding your audience, and tailoring your approach to ensure your message truly resonates with your target audience.

I’ll be sure to do some more in-depth posts exploring what communications means for you all, however, for today’s blog, let’s jump back into my golden rule of comms:

Whether you work in PR, sales, or something entirely different, it’s all about treating people as real people. It’s so easy to become swept up in the day-to-day chaos of life that we forget that we are all human 👐

Every person you interact with is unique. Understanding that we all have our own stories, challenges and aspirations helps build the foundation of genuine relationships. By recognising and appreciating individual differences, you can create far more meaningful and personalised connections.

Communication isn’t just about delivering a message – it’s about using your messaging to directly connect and resonate with your audience. People respond best to authenticity. You may not get everything right the first time, however, that’s all part of the journey. Remember what I said earlier, how we communicate is constantly changing – by keeping flexible and treating people as people, you really cannot go wrong, no matter what happens!

That’s all for today;s blog, what do you think? Would you like to see more posts on communications here on the page? Are there any topics that you would like to see me explore next?

I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙂

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!

James
