First Mentoring Cycle ✅

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you’re having a lovely start to the weekend 🙂

I’m delighted to share that I have completed my first official mentoring cycle with One Million Mentors! We’re going to be breaking down some of my thoughts surrounding this first rotation in today’s blog 🙂

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

When I first heard about 1MM from Lucy, a former colleague of mine, last year, I instantly knew that it was a cause that I could fully get behind and signed up right away. After mentoring in several positions over the years, getting a formal certificate under my belt in the area is brilliant 👐

I’ve always loved getting involved with mentoring, it’s something that really took off when I first began teaching swimming. When I moved to university then, there were so many opportunities to help support younger students as they progressed through their own personal journeys, who wouldn’t want to get involved with such an awesome experience?!

One of my favourite things about the whole process is watching the huge growth that your mentee makes when they realise just how much potential they have. After you have done mentoring for a little while, you can see that potential right from the start, so your mentoring cycle is focused on testing out different ways to transform the mindset of your mentee. 😁

You never know the difference instilling some self-belief into a young person can go on to create in their lives.

I’m looking forward to kickstarting the next cycle soon and helping my next mentee out wherever I can. I wonder who my next mentee will be, you never know who you will get assigned to, it’s part of the magic of the whole experience 🙌

A huge shoutout to the One Million Mentors team for your fantastic work and to my team at The Jargon Group for allowing me to get involved in such a brilliant scheme. If you’ve never considered mentoring, I could not recommend it more!

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? Have you ever been involved in a mentoring programme? How are your plans for the weekend looking? Are there any topics you’d like to see me explore here on the page?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
