A Sweeney in London…

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you’re having a lovely start to the weekend 🙂

Last weekend, I went to London for a lovely little break, exploring the city and meeting up with some awesome people. We’ll take a look at some of the things I got up to on my trip in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

I like to try and go up to London every three months or so, to help catch up with friends, have some well overdue downtime and see different parts of the city. This year, I’ve loved my trips there, making such fab memories along the way. Last week, I went up from Thursday afternoon to Monday, my longest London trip to date.

Here’s what I got up to:

☕️ Thursday – I had a long overdue catch-up with my lovely friend Josh Sanders, over some stunning food at Tonkotsu, trying Chicken Karaage for the first time, which was super tasty

✍️ Friday Afternoon – I joined some of my friends, Ryan, Charlie, Jess and Molly, for a relaxed bit of coworking, experiencing the insane Leather Lane Food Market (it’s safe to say I’ll be going back there again). I will admit I didn’t get as much work done as I planned, as I was too busy talking for a lot of it (oops!), but it was a super nice couple of hours.

🎨 Friday Evening – I went along to the Late Tate event at the Tate Modern with some of the Undefinable Community, huge thanks to Jamie for organising this event. I’ve been to loads of different museums and galleries this year, it’s been fantastic getting to see so many different variations of art and the lenses people take to view the world from

🍽️ Saturday Morning – I went for a chilled-out and lovely walk and talk around Hammersmith with my friend James, before grabbing some great food to start off the day

🏃‍➡️ Saturday Afternoon – I got to see Harrods at Christmas for the first time, thanks to a quality catch-up with my mate Joe Akik. We did get stuck in the chaos that is London during Black Friday weekend, but we managed to make it through in the end 😂

🍕 Sunday – My friend Gareth and I had some fab food at Pizza Pilgrims in Waterloo while catching up over what’s been a crazy and action-packed year before I headed over to Foyles to have some relaxation time. I like to practise talking to strangers on my Foyles trips, I find it’s such a fun experiment to do from time to time

👋 Monday – I got to meet the one and only Joe Woolf for the first time in person in SoHo. After having known Joe for over 3-4 years through LinkedIn, it was great to finally see him – I’m sure we’ll have plenty more catch-ups moving forward

I’m super grateful to everyone for taking a little bit of time to see me, I really do appreciate it. It’s such a special feeling when people say they really look forward to seeing you and ask when you are in town next just so they can have it clear in their calendars ready ❤️

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? Do you have any exciting plans for the rest of 2024? What’s been your favourite trip of the year?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
