A Sweeney in Philadelphia…

Good afternoon,

Hope you’re having a lovely start to the week 🙂

Two weeks ago, I was in Philadelphia for two days, starting off the second half of my mini US tour. Let’s take a look at what I got up to there in today’s blog. 🇺🇸

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

I planned my trip, with the intention of my middle days in Princeton and Philly being a little more relaxed, to help give me a breather between the super fast-paced life of New York and Washington. Even with a slightly relaxed pace, I still managed to get a load done in them both!

Here’s some of what I got up to:

🥊 Boxing Royalty – I got to see the infamous Rocky Steps and Statues, I even bumped into my friend James who was visiting at the same time (honestly, what are the chances 😂)

🚓 Haunting Visits – I visited the Eastern State Penitentiary, where Al Capone was famously held in prison. It was a super creepy but fascinating place to have a wander around. They provide you with an audio tour that has a load of stories and snippets of info included too

🔔 National Independence – I stopped by where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, getting to see the Liberty Bell in person

🇺🇸 Raise the Flag – I visited Betsy Ross’ house, where the first ever American flag was created, and got to see Elfreth’s Alley (America’s oldest residential street)

🚢 Ship’s Ahoy – I got to chill down Spruce Street Harbour for a while, relaxing in the summer sun with views of the Ben Franklin bridge and the ships coming to dock for the evening. It made for a lovely relaxation spot, I lost track of how long I was down there for in the end – ended up burning in the sun, but it was all worth it!

Philadelphia was an absolute pleasure to visit, don’t even get me started on the Philly Cheese Steaks; they were a whole other level. I had some food at a gourmet restaurant called Moshulu, which was literally on a ship in the dock, how cool is that?! 🤩

That’s all for today’s blog. What do you think? How’s your week ahead looking? Have you visited the US before? If so, which States have you been to?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
