Your content makes a difference…

Good morning,

How are you doing?

I’ve been creating on LinkedIn and here on Sweeney’s Blogs for over six and a half years now. While doing this for such a long time teaches you more lessons than I could begin to share in one post, I wanted to talk about one in particular with you all today.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Every October, I share my Peutz-Jeghers Dance with Death” story. This year’s post got over 22,000 impressions (views) on LinkedIn, and numerous views here on the page.

Some of those 22,000+ will have seen the story before, others may have heard something similar, and for a few, it might have been the first time they’d ever heard of Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome.

Posting the story every year for the last six to seven years, it’s gotten over 100,000 views in that time, which is absolutely crazy to write. To make this all even more mental, only around 1 in every 25,000–300,000 people are born with the condition. It’s an incredibly rare illness to be diagnosed with.

So imagine how powerful it can be if even one person who’s been diagnosed with it, or knows someone who has, comes across the post. That’s the beauty of social. You never truly know who your words might reach, or what difference they could make.

Social media typically gets a lot of negative connotations associated with it, and while some of those may be valid, it’s also a platform that can be used to generate so much good in the world. It’s a narrative I’m very passionate about challenging and hopefully changing in my own way over the years. I’m going to probably talk a lot more about this on the page moving forward.

It’s easy to focus on likes, comments and impressions; however, sometimes, the biggest impact can’t be measured by metrics. That’s why I keep sharing my story each year. Because you never know whose life it might touch 🤝

I want to leave this blog there with you all for today. What do you think? Have you ever shared something that unexpectedly resonated with someone? How’s your week been?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!

James
