Good morning everyone,
I hope you’re all keeping well 🙂
I’ve spoken quite a lot on the page about the importance of self-reflection, however, I only realised a couple of weeks ago that I’ve never shared my advice for how you can start doing it yourself. Let’s take a closer look at this in today’s blog.
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
Self-reflection has played an enormous role in my life. While I used to struggle with it while I was younger, over time, I’ve tested a load of different types and found that it has profoundly impacted my emotions and mindset for whatever each day has in store. However, if you have never done it before, it can be a tad tricky to figure out where to start – let’s fix that for you all 😎

I was talking to my friend Lauren a couple of weeks ago when she mentioned that she was hoping to get more into reflecting and journalling throughout 2024, but she wasn’t sure how to go about it. She asked me for my advice, so here’s what I advised her to test out first:
At the end of each day, take a couple of minutes to reflect on the following questions:
- What’s one thing that you are grateful for today?
- What’s one lesson that you learnt?
- What’s one thing that you are looking forward to doing tomorrow?
I normally advise people to keep track of their answers, then at the end of the week, take some time to read back over them and reflect on your week. Over time, you can start to add, edit and remove questions, depending on how useful you find them and if there are any other areas that you want to delve into – these are more so used as a starting block for your self-reflection journey.

The thing to remember about this is that self-reflection is a very personal experience. We all think, feel and process things differently, so it is only natural that it carries through to how we reflect. You may find that you need to do it differently, or you would prefer to do it weekly instead of daily – all of which are completely okay.
I find this topic fascinating, there are so many different pathways that you can venture down and explore. I’m debating making it something that we talk about here on Sweeney’s Blogs a lot more going forward, I could even make a lovely little series delving into it! Be sure to let me know if you’d be interested in seeing more blogs like this and I’d happily start brainstorming them for you.

I’ll leave it there for today’s blog, hope you all have a wonderful week ahead! I’ll see you on Saturday for our next blog 👋
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
