Shadows of a Departed Friendship – Poem

Good morning everyone,

I hope you’re having a lovely start to the week 🙂

Friendships change a lot as we progress through life – some people we’ll meet and stay close to, others may drift away over time. It took me a little while to realise that this is all completely normal, so I thought I’d put pen to paper and write a poem about it to share with you all. Hope you enjoy giving it a read 🙂

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

As dawn breaks on the horizon of our shared history,
I take some time to reflect on all of those times between you and me,
Our childhoods flew by so fast, we never even stopped to realise,
How sweet it was to experience each day with our own eyes.

As the years unfurled their cloak of change,
It seemed our bond would decrease with range,
At first, I thought that the fault with this lay with me,
However, it’s simply a part of how our journeys were set to be.

I sift through the sands of time, searching for shadows of yesteryear,
A smile dawns on my face, as all of the good memories draw near,
Whether a walk in the park or heading out for a meal,
Each day was special, a friendship shared like a kindred dream.

In the quiet corners of my mind, I find solace in the fact,
That no matter the future, we had quite the pact,
Whether a few pages or the entire story,
Our time together will always be held with glory.

And as our paths diverge, I bid goodbye with heartfelt gratitude,
Knowing our drifted friendship will remain eternally valued.
