A Letter to a Younger Me – Poem

Good morning everyone,

I hope you’re having an outstanding start to the day 🙂

The last couple of years have been a real whirlwind for me, with highs and lows helping to shape me into the person I am today.

I wanted to take some time to write a letter to a younger me, letting me know that although the journey isn’t always easy, we always find our own way through.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

In the quiet chambers of my mind, I pen these thoughts to my distant past,
Let’s take a dive into the silent corridors of time, where echoes of yesterday are cast,
Although the road may not always be easy, we continue to make it through,
Moving through days of joy and those veiled in shades of blue.

Beneath the canopy of ancestry, roots of love deeply entwine,
A family full of affection and compassion, a heavenly sign,
They’ll pick you up when you falter, nursing you back to health,
Embracing you through hardships, in poverty and wealth.

You’ll encounter people of all sorts as you go on your way,
Friends who’ll shine bright when skies are draped in grey,
It may take time, however, you will find your tribe,
Those who will stick by you, an eternity by your side.

Young James, if there’s one lesson I can share, here goes,
Life is unpredictable, what tomorrow has in store, nobody knows,
Live your life to the fullest, celebrating each day, week and year,
Spend time with those whose kindness overflows to all those near.

In the quiet chambers of my mind, I pen these thoughts to my distant past,
Let’s take a dive into the silent corridors of time, where echoes of yesterday are cast,
We are all writing our own book, no two lives exist in a race,
You’ll find your way, creating your very own space in your very own pace.

Thanks a lot for reading, it’s been lovely to pick up my pen and get back into writing poetry lately, it’s been way too long! Be sure to let me know if there are any topics or poems that you’d like to see me explore moving forward 🙂

Until next time,
