The finishing line for 2025 is in sight. Can you believe it? What a year this one has turned out to be – full of more adventures and stories than I could begin to count. Before we say goodbye to these 12 months, as the chapter starts anew, let’s take a look at some of my thoughts, before I get fully into my reflections in January.

Where would you even begin to describe the events of the last 12 months?
I was going to structure this blog as a letter to the year, but as I started writing, it feels like a bit of a ramble, a bit of a journey, which is what’s reflective of this last year. I’m going to take a look at 2025 from a personal angle. I know there has been so much going on globally, which, quite frankly, could take up more blogs than I could count by itself.
So, how has this year been? I always try to summarise each year around this time by one word or a phrase. It’s usually something that I find pretty easy to do, although this time around, it took me a bit longer. I was going to go for something like resilient or confusing, but that doesn’t really do it justice.
Instead, I’m going to summarise this year as “intentional”.
We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs – from my unexpected redundancy back in April, to the best time of my life on my mini-US tour, this year has been anything but normal. Through it all, though? A purposeful mission to make the most of my life, and to spend as much time with those around me as I can.
I’m not just talking about any old time. I mean proper, meaningful, intentional time. Whether that was going for a coffee, watching the new Wicked film with my mam, seeing friends while travelling around, phoning people to see how they are getting on or something else entirely, it’s been a powerful one.
If the last few years have taught me anything, it’s that we don’t know what’s coming next. That used to be something that terrified me; however, now I see it as an opportunity. An opportunity to live my life how I want to live it. Do I have somewhere I want to go? If yes, how can I break down the steps and actions needed to take to get me there?
You know what they say – life is what you make it. If that’s true, then I’m going to do everything in my power to make it a good old adventure. One where we sing karaoke, have the deeper chats, climb the mountains and enjoy each other’s company. It sounds cliché, but that doesn’t matter, as long as it resonates and means something to you.
Dear 2025, you’ve thrown a lot at me. Some positive. Some negative. Some to be decided. We’ve got through it, though, and we’ve got through it together. Looking ahead, I can’t wait to see what stories are on their way, what cultures are left for me to explore and which people are next for me to meet and get to know.
2026? Bring it on – you’re coming very soon and, boy, am I ready 😎
