Good morning 🌅
How are you doing today?
I wanted to chat about something a little different, the role of trust, and what it really means in a world where we’re consuming more information than ever before. Having worked in communications for over seven years, it’s a topic I’m very passionate about, and I want to explore it through the blogging lens with you all.
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
When I first pressed publish back in February 2019, I never realised how much of my life content creation would become. Being able to write and share my thoughts with you all, twice a week ever since, is a privilege I don’t take lightly.

We’re living in a world where we consume more information than ever before. Thanks to continuous advancements in technology, we receive updates from across the globe through our phones, TVs and laptops at any given moment.
But with this constant flow of information, how do we know what to trust?
This, of course, is a topic that’s bigger than one sole blog – I could easily make a 20-part series and still only begin to touch the surface. With my background, both academically and professionally so far, it’s a topic I would love to start talking about more – especially as its impact reaches and shapes us all in some shape or form.

The past few years have highlighted just how turbulent the world can be. From global political tensions to the cost of living to sustainability concerns, there’s a lot for people to process, each with its own level of impact.
I don’t say this to cause concern or spread negativity, that’s not who I am. And I don’t assume these are the only things on people’s minds either. For many, these are broader, macro challenges, while day-to-day personal obstacles often take priority. There is no “one-size-fits-all” option in this debate; it’s a subjective matter.

The Cambridge English Dictionary define trust as “to believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you, or that something is safe and reliable”. That’s a definition I quite like – for some, trust can be the confidence that what you’re seeing, what you’re hearing or who you are speaking to is real, and is speaking the truth.
Sweeney’s Blogs has always existed by talking about real topics that genuinely matter to real people. As the page has evolved over the last seven years, that raison d’être, or reason for existing, hasn’t changed, amd isn’t something that is going to for as long as I have any say in the matter.
I’m not going to guarantee how much I am going to directly write about trust moving forward. Yes, it is a topic I care a lot about; however, there are a load of others which I am passionate about as well. It all comes down to how well I can manage covering them all, and which topics feel right to talk about on each given day/week.

What I can confirm is that any content you see on the page is real, and does come from me, someone I trust, or from a blog I have read, enjoyed and have evidence is trustworthy (when it references any data or research, for example).
Even when I am not explicitly writing about trust, I’m choosing to share parts of my life and the stories I’ve encountered along the way. That’s one form of indirect trust, me, as a writer and creator, trusting you with the content I choose to share. Hopefully, over the years, I have proven that you can trust me as a blogger – if not, then stick around, reach out if you have any questions, and I’ll keep bringing you along on the journey.
So, there we have it! A rather different blog from my usual style, but I do like writing about topics and areas like this from time to time. What do you think? Would you like to see more blogs like this moving forward? How do you trust the content you see online?
I’d love to hear what you think 😊
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
