quietnote – A Musical Mindfulness Masterclass

Good morning,

Hope you’re having a wonderful start to the day πŸ™‚

Last week, I got the opportunity to travel up to Birmingham for the unveiling of quietnote’s research, in partnership with the University of Birmingham. We’re going to be taking a closer look at what all of this means in today’s blog.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Quietnote is a business founded by a good friend of mine called Will Crawford. It combines music with mindfulness to support people in managing their mental health and wellbeing. As you may know, if you follow along the page, welfare is a topic that lies very close to my heart, so quietnote is right up my street!

Will and the team secured a grant from Innovate UK, which they decided to invest in scientifically proving their work, through a collaboration with a trusted body – which is where the University of Birmingham comes into play.

Combining four different research test groups, they set out to test if the combination of music and mindfulness can have a positive impact on young people’s mental health, with the results showing as incredible, in my opinion. Here are the key takeaways from their study – quietnote’s approach facilitates a:

πŸ“‰ 55% decrease in depression
πŸ“‰ 50% decrease in anxiety
πŸ“ˆ 49.2% improvement in sleep quality
πŸ“ˆ 20.6% improvement in general mental wellbeing

We even got to see Will deliver a mini live session for us, which consisted of a small meditation while Will played the guitar. Hearing two testimonials from people who have benefitted from quitenote’s work too, was fantastic – showing the true impact that can be created through courses and approaches like this.

It was an absolute pleasure to be invited up for this event, I couldn’t be happier seeing Will do so well. Here’s to continuing to make a difference, supporting one another through life wherever we can πŸ™

I’d deffo recommend checking out their website linked above. This post is in no way sponsored. I just thought after travelling to Birmingham for the event, it would make for a fab story to share here with you all.

After knowing Will on LinkedIn for over two years, it was amazing to finally meet up with him in person. It says a lot about someone that when I meet them for the first time, I barely ever stutter. That summarises Will perfectly as a person – someone warm, welcoming, and so easy to chat to. Check out this photo we both got at the event too:

There is something so lovely in being able to watch your friend do well in something they are so passionate about. Whether it’s chatting with Will about music, seeing him present this research or speaking to any of the attendees at the event, who all had their own brilliant stories and thoughts to share, there is nothing that beats it.

Good on you, Will, here’s to loads more successes to come your way πŸ™‚

That’s all for today’s blog. What do you think? What small actions do you take to support yourself with your mental wellbeing? Is mindfulness something you’ve tried before? Would you like to see more blogs like this on the page moving forward?

I’d love to hear your thoughts ‡️

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!

James
