West-End Live 2026 has arrived πŸ‘€

Good morning πŸŒ…

I’m in London this weekend for West-End Live 2026 – we’re going to be taking a little look at what this is, and why I love going along to it in today’s blog. Let’s get this show on the road – queue act one please.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

West-End Live is on from 20-21 June 2026, over at Trafalgar Square in London. If you haven’t heard of it before, here’s a bit of context for you:

What happens, in essence, is that for one weekend a year, a stage is set up in Trafalgar Square, where, for a whole weekend, all of the current shows on the West End get the opportunity to play some of their songs for free to everyone who comes along.

They usually do it where the Saturday runs from 12-5, and is focused on your typical, bigger shows – think the likes of Les Mis, Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera and some of the other big shows going on. Then, on Sunday, some of the newer, more Indie shows get their time to shine.

I found out about this event pretty much by accident. I was in London for the weekend back in June 2024, when all of my plans for the Saturday morning got cancelled. I caught the tube from Clapham South to Charing Cross, intending to head over to Foyles to kill some time and meet some new people, when I could hear something was happening in Trafalgar Square.

I decided to check out what was going on, and I could see that Samantha Barks was singing. I went over to watch for a bit and ended up staying for hours, listening to the songs and chatting to new people there.

Each show gets to perform for around 15 minutes each, showcasing some of their songs, so you get a really good feel of whether it’s a show that you’d like to go and see in your free time. The people who do go have the offer to get discounted seats to shows in the same evening too, which is always a positive in my books πŸ˜‚

Last year, three friends (Tom, Molly and Rob) and I went along, and ended up having a blast. It was surprisingly a super hot day out, so we all managed to catch a tan while listening to some fantastic performers doing what they do best – what’s not to love?!

Here was us all from last year

This year, a couple of extra people are joining us for what looks like another fab weekend. I’ll, of course, let you all know how it goes 😎

Until then, though, thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!
