Good morning everyone,
Hope you’re having a lovely start to Bank Holiday Monday 🙂
My good friend Vanessa asked me the heading of this blog in one of our catch-ups a few months ago, and it’s really stuck with me. We’re going to be taking a look at the question and what it means to me in today’s blog.
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
The question caught me off guard, not because I didn’t have an answer, but because it made me pause and take a minute to reflect. It made me genuinely think and explore my reasoning, which is something that I love to do where I can.

For me, joy is being fully present. It’s knowing that this moment, however small, is enough and should be embraced entirely. It’s not always the big moments or fireworks, sometimes it can be as simple as going for a coffee with a friend whom you haven’t seen for a while 😊
In 2024, my top moment has got to be when I was on a boat ride across the Douro River on my first ever solo holiday to Porto. I wasn’t feeling scared about going solo, I was filled with feelings of excitement, pride and genuine joy that I took this step and did something that I have always wanted to do. I spent years putting travelling plans on hold, waiting for someone else to go with, when I could do it and make some fab memories solo.

Joy and peace are a lot closer than we think. They don’t need to be chased – sometimes, we just need to ask ourselves the question.
So, I’m passing that question on to you: When was the last time you felt joy? Is there something you can do to help the next time come quicker?
I’d love to hear your thoughts ⤵️
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!
