Sometimes, in life, we forget how great it is to have people with us along certain parts of our journey. It’s along this train of thought that we’re going to take today’s blog, as we take a look at a recent story that happened to me at work.

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

For today’s blog, I want to do something a little different. You know me, I always like to mix things up from time to time – it keeps the page more exciting, and helps me cover all sorts of topics 🙌

I want to talk about a topic I mainly save for my LinkedIn – a little bit of a closer look at some of what happens in my work at No Boring Brands.

So, to give a little context here, I work fully remote from the Swansea valleys, with a team of five that’s split between the US and Argentina. One Thursday afternoon, around three weeks ago, Irupe (our Head of Client Success) and I had a catch-up with one of our clients…

It was pencilled in for 17:30-18:15 my time, and as my co-working spot in Cardiff closed at 18:00, I thought it was best to leave early and find a cafe, or somewhere else nearby that I could do the call from.

I had all my notes prepared and was ready to jump in and run the call; however, my WiFi had other ideas.

Unfortunately, it was about as patchy as when I tried to do Movember a few years back (that wasn’t a pretty sight). I would add a photo here for proof; however, sometimes, it’s best to just leave it to your imagination 😂

Luckily, though, Irupe was on hand to step in and take the lead. We ended up getting everything we needed from the call, and my connection eventually levelled out towards the end. It sounds simple, but things like this are what I’ve really missed about having a team – knowing that no matter what happens, you’re not tackling things solo.

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan – especially when you’re risking WiFi while you’re on the go. Little stories like this really do make a big difference; I could chat about them for hours.

I might start sharing a lot more stories like this on the page moving forward – they are a lot of fun to write up.

You never know where the next idea for a blog may come from, after all. I find that the most random ideas or experiences can often make for the best kinds of content anyway, too, which is always a bonus, haha.
