Goood morning π
How are you doing?
Sometimes, when I’m writing blogs, I don’t always have a core message in mind when I start typing away. I just see what comes to my head when I start typing, and see where it all takes me.
This is something that I want to do today with you all, so let’s see what this blog has in store π
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
Over the last couple of years, I’ve become fascinated by psychology and philosophy – especially those topics that really get us to question things. That invite us to be curious, to strive for answers that we may not have realised beforehand.

In a way, that’s where the idea behind today’s blog came from – the question: what does it all mean? In this case, what does it mean to be a person?
It’s something that I like to debate with people from time to time, as you never really know what kind of answers you’re going to get. Isn’t it also true that with questions like this, there isn’t a right or wrong answer; it’s more about you, your past, your mindset, and a load of other factors?
Anyway, back to the matter at hand: being human. Being a person. What does it all mean?

For me, this question is pretty simple. Being human matters. It’s a reminder that you matter – to yourself, to those around you, and to so much more.
It’s the belief that we’re part of something, something that exists because of what each person brings to the equation. No one person matters more than the other; we each have a role to play in life. Whatever that full role is, who really knows?
This coming Thursday is the 8th of October, which every year is known as World Mental Health Day.

I wanted to point this out as it’s so pertinent to the message behind this blog. The last couple of years have been anything but ordinary, and for a lot of people, this has created so many additional challenges that they’re juggling in their lives.
Some say that we’re currently going through a global mental health crisis, and that’s why this matters so much.
It matters to be reminded that you matter. To be reminded that you have a purpose. To be reminded that you’re a person on your own respective journey through life – in whatever way that works for you.
Life can move by so fast – we sometimes forget to stop for a few minutes and just sit in the pause. Forget to stop and reflect on everything, to check in with someone or to give ourselves a few moments to simply be. I’m not going to pretend that I have all the answers in life, as that’s simply untrue, but I do have one thing in which I am certain: my belief in people.

Today is Monday, 5th October. I don’t know exactly what you’re going through, but I am here to say that I see you.
I’m James Connor Sweeney. I’m not perfect, but nobody is. I’m continually finding out new things about who I am as a person, and I’m very grateful to have you along for the ride with me, however long you want to stick around.
Let’s head into this new week with a positive mindset, and I’ll leave this blog with my go-to phrase these days: you never know the difference a post, comment or message can make to somebody’s day, week or life.
And with that, I hope you have a lovely day, thanks for reading, and I’ll catch you soon π
