What is Ethics?

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you’re all having a lovely start to the weekend 🙂

I’ve been loving taking a trip down memory lane lately, looking back on some of the different topics that I have written about over the years. Ethics and philosophy are two areas that have really captured my interest over the last 3-4 years, and it’s been fantastic to talk about them with you all here on the page.

As I haven’t covered any new ethics or philosophical concepts for a while, I thought that it would be good to jump back into what we mean by the term “ethics”, so that I can do a bit more in-depth exploring over the next couple of months. Be sure to check out the blog if you’re interested and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Well, in today’s blog, we will be looking at British Philosopher John Broome’s theory of fairness, which made a significant contribution to, and is one of the most engaged theories in the fairness space!

Wu Wei, the Art of Non-acting — Wise & Shine

Wu Wei is a key concept of Taoism that can be translated as “do not act” or “do not intervene”. However, it is not a passive attitude. It’s letting go to allow the action to flow effortlessly and in harmony with the “original cosmic order”, without attempting to modify it. The result will be merging…

What is Ethics?

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope that you’re all having a lovely day!

Philosophy is an area of study that I have loved delving into over the last year or so, and as I mentioned in my “Let’s talk about Ethical Perspectives” post, is something that I would love to start talking about here on Sweeney’s Blogs. We have already covered what we mean by the term ‘Ethical Perspectives”, so I think that the perfect place to go next would be to take a look at what we mean by ‘ethics’ 🙂
