Let’s talk about meditation…

Good morning everyone,

I hope you’re having a wonderful start to the weekend 🙂

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been starting to get back into meditation, and I’ve found that it has really been making a positive impact on my mindset – which we are going to take a look at in today’s blog!

Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!

Whenever I’m feeling a bit stressed, I take a couple of minutes to refocus and calm myself down and it genuinely makes a massive difference to my mood, my perspective on things and my overall control over my mind. The last couple of months have been very full on for me, and if I didn’t find healthy ways to release stress, such as through meditation, I honestly do not know where my head would go.

Meditation and other similar mindfulness practices, have a number of different benefits on your life, including: helping you to increase your self-awareness, enhancing your creativity, lowering your heart rate and helping you to focus on the present. Although meditation may seem like a small and unimportant thing at first glance, the difference that it can make is astounding 🙂

Personally, I’m a fan of using guided meditation, which is a type of meditation led by a teacher, in person or via audio or video. I feel like I benefit the most from guided meditation sessions, as opposed to some of the other types, but honestly, it depends on how I am feeling, what sort of things I’ve got going on and how much free time I have to get some meditation done.

If you’re interested in giving guided meditation a go, I quite like using this style of video to start off:

In today’s world, where life feels like it’s flying by quicker than ever before, being present in the moment is so important.

I’m not going to tell you that I sit around doing meditation all day long, as that would be a complete lie, but I do like to try and get in a session where I can, whether that be in the morning to help start off the day or in the evening to help reflect and relax. I don’t even necessarily do it every single day, but whenever I’m feeling stressed, I do find that meditation does help to calm me down.

Don’t underestimate the power of mindfulness, it’s such an invaluable technique for managing stress. Above is a photo of a much younger me channeling my inner Buddha, you’re welcome 😉

That’s all for today’s blog, what do you think? Are you a fan of mediation? What sort of tools and techniques do you use to manage stress? Would you like to see more mindfulness-based posts here on the page?

Be sure to let me know your thoughts and answers to the above questions 🙂

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!
