Good afternoon π
How’s your weekend started off?
Last weekend, 19 of us from the undefinable community travelled over to Devon for our Spring 2026 Retreat. As is customary on the page, it’s time for a little wrap-up post, taking a look at some of what we got up to this time around π»
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
Hosted by Josh and Ryan, this one was focused on our shared value of “Collective Responsibility”, which we refer to as:
Leaving people, places and projects in a better way than we found them π€
However, for this time around, we took it one step further – using the weekend as an opportunity to learn more about the people and cultures from all over the world. So, in this case, we were each learning and growing, ultimately leaving the weekend improved both as individuals and as a wider group.
Here’s a photo of us all from the weekend:

Here are some of my highlights from the trip:
π Chilling out in the sauna, playing cards, and having some deeper and more meaningful conversations with friends we haven’t seen for a while.
The sauna was a lovely touch here. I enjoyed a little 10-15 minutes in there relaxing by myself on the Saturday afternoon, and it was so good to switch off and unwind for a little spell, before diving back into the usual chaos of everything
β½οΈ Held our own mini version of sports day, with activities ranging from tug of war to sumo wrestling, table tennis to boules and more
(I somehow got myself injured playing ultimate frisbee – honestly, you couldn’t make this stuff up! I’m all good now, don’t you worry – I think it’s a sign that my peak physical days are a little behind me, unless I work on bringing them back one day π«£π)
βοΈ Leading a session with Wan, all about how cultures across the world use tea to connect, communicate and understand one another. I’ve actually got a much more thorough blog about this coming on Monday – be sure to keep an eye out for that
What made this trip extra special, too, was having Anton, who owns Selgars Mill (where we stayed), join us for it all. This was my 10th weekend away with the guys, and the 12th that we have run as a group, and this was the first time that the venue host got directly stuck in with everything, which was lovely π
From quizzes to a new version of a silent disco, campfire chats to group meals – it’s exactly the kind of wholesomeness you love to see.
Here’s to being that little bit more community-minded every single day.
That’s all for today’s blog. What do you think? How do you embrace different cultures and backgrounds in your life?
I’d love to hear what you think π
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!
James
