Goood morning 👋
How has your week started?
Life has been a bit all systems go lately, which is fantastic to see; however, I can’t lie, I have been feeling a little bit exhausted with everything. With all of this in mind, I decided to take this past weekend a little slower – which is exactly what I wanted to talk about with you today.
Hello and Welcome to Sweeney’s Blogs!
I’ve been working in my new role at No Boring Brands for over three months now, which feels crazy to say 🤯

I have been loving my time here so far – the work is so different yet so much fun, the team are lovely, and our clients are as mad as a box of frogs, in the best possible way. With every new role, you do have that initial settling in period, which I’m nearly fully through now.
Alongside my new role, I’ve had a pretty manic couple of months – with lots of trips away with friends, events in Cardiff and more going on.
Now, I feel it’s worth saying here that I am in no way complaining about all of this. I feel very lucky and happy that it’s all going on – this is more because, after a little while, everything can start to hit you and leave you feeling a little tired.

I’m someone who has been preaching for years that people should be taking small breaks regularly where they can to relax and recharge, so over the weekend, it was about time that I took some of my own advice on board.
On Saturday, I did my usual when it comes to writing my blog, going to watch my brother play football and then heading back to the pub for a couple of drinks after the game.
However, instead of staying out for the evening, I thought it would be better to have a chilled-out night at home, and I took yesterday (Sunday) a lot slower, too.

Sometimes we associate needing a break with something going wrong. We wait until we’re completely exhausted, stressed or overwhelmed before giving ourselves permission to slow things down.
But maybe you don’t need a massive reason. Sometimes, you’ve simply had a busy few weeks and a night on the sofa is exactly what you need.
Did it magically make everything better?
I’m not going to pretend that one slightly more chilled weekend has made me feel more refreshed than I’ve ever felt in my life, but it has deffo made a positive difference. That’s one of the main points I wanted to make about intentionally taking gaps like this – they’re not a one-off; they’re something that we all try to do a bit more regularly.

And with that, I’d like to slowly bring this blog to a close.
If you take anything away from reading this, I hope it’s this: if you haven’t taken some time out for yourself lately, this is your Sweeney reminder to give it a go sometime soon. You may not realise how much you actually do need it.
That’s all for today – what do you think? Have you taken a personal break lately? What’s something you like to do to fully switch off/relax?
Thanks a lot for reading, and I hope you have a fab week ahead!
James
