How are we all doing?

How are you doing? It’s a simple question that takes only seconds to ask, and can make the world of difference. We have been in an on/off lockdown now for around 10 whole months, and it can be very easy to feel a bit lost, or unsure about how you’re feeling. Today’s blog is going to look at checking in with people, and why it is so crucial that we do so, especially in these uncertain times.

Burns Night 2021 – The US Sun

THE life and work of poet Robert Burns – officially voted the “greatest ever Scotsman” – is celebrated around the globe each year in January. Sweeney’s Stuttering Series?

I have written quite a lot of blog series here on Sweeney’s Blogs, and as I haven’t done one for a couple of weeks now, I was thinking, should they make a return? I have been considering bringing blog series back to the page for some time, so what I thought I would do over the next couple of blogs is to talk through some of my ideas for potential series, and see if anybody is interested in them!

Today’s blog is going to be about my potentially new Stuttering Series.

My Thoughts on “Mythos” by Stephen Fry

Mythos: The Greek Mythos Retold is a book about Greek Mythology, written by Stephen Fry. The book centralises around the Gods of Ancient Greece, their relationship with both their parents, The Titans, and with humans, of which they created. I absolutely love learning about Mythology, so as soon as I saw this book on Amazon, I bought it immediately and it was an absolute pleasure to read through.

In today’s blog, we are going to be taking a look at some of my thoughts about Mythos and its connection to Greek Cosmology.

My Stuttering Journey through 2020

2020 was a massive year for me, and yet, despite all of the highs and lows experienced in those 12 months, one of my key takeaways from the year would be the lessons that I learned throughout my 2020 Stuttering Journey. My Stutter has played a very large role in all of my life, I wouldn’t ever say that wasn’t the case, but 2020 seemed to be a year in which everything that happened, seemed to link back to that topic, my Speech and my Self-Confidence.

This is what we’ll be looking at in today’s blog!

Rewire your brain! The power of inner dialogue.

Claudia's avatarPress of Positivity

Negative self-talk is one of the main causes of self-sabotage. We are our greatest persecutors. We know and perceive that, but somehow we can’t stop the loop.

Why do we act so harsh on ourselves? Why do we tend to minimize our achievements and give a huge importance to our failures? Is there anything we could do to stop the loop of self-deprecation?

The answer is yes, there’s so much we can do to stop self-sabotage.

Being conscious of our negative self-talk is already a great achievement. So, please, reward yourself for that. Be extremely kind to yourself. You deserve it. Next time you are about to judge yourself, or think negatively, please stop.

Stop, no matter what you are doing – washing the dishes, talking to a friend, cooking dinner – or where you are – at the grocery store, in a car jam, at…

Happy New Year!

2020 has felt like, for many, a never-ending maze of confusion and disruption, however, all of that will soon be over. As New Years Eve is just a couple of days away, and with that the start of 2021, a large majority of people will use these next few days to evaluate over the last 12 months. Whether you would like to reflect over the past, look to the future, or do a combination of the both, it’s safe to say 2020 was far beyond what anyone could have predicted.
