Today is Going to be a Good Day!!

I woke up today in an absolutely amazing mood. I had a very late lie-in today, and as soon as I opened my curtains, all I could see was blue sky and the sun shining down. We don’t see sunny weather all that often in the Swansea Valley’s, and as it has been so bitterly cold recently, it was a very welcome surprise for me today.

The way that something so simple like the weather can have such a positive change on your mood never ceases to amaze me. I find that when the sun is out, I am naturally a lot happier, more energetic and more productive. So with all that being said, I know that today is going to be a good day!

My Stuttering Journey through 2020

2020 was a massive year for me, and yet, despite all of the highs and lows experienced in those 12 months, one of my key takeaways from the year would be the lessons that I learned throughout my 2020 Stuttering Journey. My Stutter has played a very large role in all of my life, I wouldn’t ever say that wasn’t the case, but 2020 seemed to be a year in which everything that happened, seemed to link back to that topic, my Speech and my Self-Confidence.

This is what we’ll be looking at in today’s blog!

My Hopes for “My Beautiful Stutter”

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed during my lunch hour earlier on this week and a trailer for a film called “My Beautiful Stutter” showed up on my suggested posts. Up to know, I hadn’t heard of many films that were made to address the issue of Stuttering, apart from the odd exception such as The King’s Speech, or The Waterboy, so it is safe to safe that I was very intrigued on how they were going to go about doing it.

I have not been able to actually watch the film itself yet, but in today’s blog we are going to look at some of my hopes and aspirations as to what this film can do for the Stuttering Community and for the stigma that surrounds Stuttering as a whole.

Choosing Joy Over Despair — WILDLY FREE ELDER

“Yet, within the wounds, rather like the tree in the image above, there is new growth and opportunities to re-frame our perspective and turn our attention to moments of joy and small pleasures. The way that we travel, work, socialise, relax and more have had to undergo major changes, due to the virus, and it has resulted in a lot of confusion for a vast number of people, as they try and adopt to this new situational “norm”.

One constant that has emerged for a large majority of people over the last few months is a very large increase in the amount of time that we spend staring at different screens, be that a computer screen, the television screens, ones on your phones and tablets, you name it.

Today we are going to be looking at the importance of having some Screen-Free Time where we can.
